RSV: Day 3

So the worst is upon us. We spent several hours last night at the ER after spending a couple of hours watching him closely here and staying in contact with Michael's pediatrician. Michael started showing some signs of respiratory distress and was running a fever of 102.2. Our pediatrician had us go on to the ER to make sure that there wasn't anything else going on. They did a chest X-ray and blood work. Both were normal. They also rechecked his temperature which had gone up to 102.7 at that time. They gave him Tylenol and watched him until his fever came down a little. When we left it was down to 100.1 or something. They sent us home around 2 a.m.

We got home did another breathing treatment and gave him an extra bottle. We were told to keep him hydrated so we didn't have a problem giving him and extra bottle plus it helped him realize that it was time to go to sleep. He fell asleep while I was giving him his treatment. Finally we all went to bed around 3:30 a.m.

This morning his pediatrician called to check on him and told us to call her, at home by the way, if we had any more problems with breathing or fever. He's not eating all that well today. He had an ounce earlier and didn't want to eat anymore. His fever is at 101.7 and we're treating it with Tylenol. Hopefully it will be coming down soon. He's played some this morning and showed off his award winning smile. It warms my heart to know he feels like crap and will still smile and his Mommy and Daddy. He's asleep right now and actually seems to be resting. Aaron and I are hoping for some simblance of a nap later.
